On the 8th of August the 50th issue of ‘Oh Comely’ magazine will be published! I have loved ‘Oh Comely’ since the very first issue so I thought I’d write this post to share my appreciation of this beautiful publication.
If you have never read Oh Comely – grab a cup of tea and settle down in a comfy spot – you won’t regret it – I promise. Oh Comely promotes self love, creativity and most importantly keeping your curiosity sacred. Life can get hectic for everyone but this publication gives you that breath of fresh air when you need it.
Oh Comely – Issue fourteen
Oh Comely is not only an independent magazine but also a community where strangers become friends. I can definitely vouch for that – a couple of years ago I let an old friend borrow my Oh Comely issues and unfortunately they were lost. I’d collected every issue from day one so I was very upset about this. I shared my story on Twitter – not really expecting anything, I was just sad and wanted somewhere to rant about it…To my surprise Oh Comely retweeted me, before I knew it so many Oh Comely readers were sending me lovely messages and offering to send me copies of their duplicate issues or ones they’d already read. I couldn’t believe it, I met so many amazing people and I managed to restore my lost collection – every single issue, all thanks to a bunch of lovely people that Oh Comely brought together. I couldn’t believe how kind people were and how many other readers wanted to help me. It was such a lovely experience that made me appreciate how many great people there are out there.
Oh Comely – Issue forty four
In order to celebrate 50 issues of Oh Comely magazine I’m hosting a giveaway of 5 surprise issues of the magazine – to enter go to my Instagram post by clicking here tag a friend in the post – a winner will be selected at random at 5pm on the 10th of August!
Thank you for reading, I can’t wait to share this beautiful publication with the winner.
I spent a long weekend off work staying with some friends and we had a great time heading to the garden centre and doing some serious plant shopping! I thought I’d share our little project here as it was really fun and our finished products look lovely. This is such an easy way to add a bit of colour to any home and also a great way to recycle used tin cans!
What you will need;
– Small cactus/succulents,
-Empty tin cans beer/fizzy drink/juice etc.
-Tin opener
-Cactus/succulent soil
-Plant mister or mini watering can. I have a glass Sass & Belle Plant Mister which I bought from ASOS I find it much easier to water small plants with a mister, but you can use a small watering can too.
Sass & Belle Glass Plant Mister
We also bought some soluble cactus/succulent feed, you add a tiny bit of this to your water in your plant mister or watering can, but this isn’t essential. You can find this on Amazon
Vitax 200g Cacti Feed
There are some really nicely designed tin drinks cans out there so to use them as plant pots for your succulents is such a nice idea. This is such an easy project and creates a lovely addition to any home. We used beer cans, the Mikkeller are my favourite, but of course you can choose whichever can you like.
Mikkeller Danish Brewery We went to the garden centre and went a little crazyThe finished products!The finished products!
All you have to do is remove the top part of the can with a tin opener and use your succulent soil to carefully plant your choice of succulent inside, so so simple and such a beautiful result!
I think this is such a lovely idea and really wanted to share it with you all. Let me know if you try this and please share your photographs with me if you do.
I’m very excited to talk about the Shopmium app that is available to download from Google Play & the App Store. It has saved me so much money on branded products, and allowed me to try products that I may not usually buy. I tend to shop in Lidl or Aldi and only visit Asda or Tesco if there is something specific that I need. Branded products are often expensive, especially if you aren’t sure if something is the right product for you. I love coupons, looking for the best deal and saving money when I can (I mean, who doesn’t!?) so this app is amazing for all you money saving experts out there.
Shopmium releases daily offers and discounts for items from a range of different UK supermarkets. Some products are free and some are available at a discounted price. It’s so easy to use, you simply browse the app and save products that interest you to your ‘selection list’. Shopimum will let you know which stores the offer are available in by categorising them in order of where you can find them. There is a ‘check eligibility’ feature so that you can scan barcodes as you shop to make sure you’ve picked up the right item. Additionally, there is a map feature built into the app so that you can see where you nearest store is. It’s so easy to claim your cash back, you simply save your receipt, photograph it and then scan the barcode of the item you wish to redeem. Cash back requests are always processed within a day or two and the money is sitting in your Pay-Pal account within 3 days of claiming your cash back – amazing!
Shopmium also has a great referral system, each time you successfully refer a friend you receive £3 of credits to you account. On each referral, your friend is offered a featured product for free, once they pick up their item and make their cash back request, £3 is credited to your referral pot. When I first got the app, I was confused as to how you use your referral credits, so I thought I’d explain this a little;
For example this month I bought a bottle of BrewDog Lost Lager (660ml bottle) which was £2.60 in Morrisions – Shopimum were offering £1 off this item. However, I had referral credits in my pot, so I received £1 for the offer and £1.60 from my referral credits, which meant this item was completely free!
I love to try and test new products so Shopmium is great for me as I’m saving money while reviewing products. Once you receive your cashback, they ask you to review the products you’ve bought (this is optional) but I really enjoy this part!
I’m going to list the items that I’ve purchased throughout July so that you can get an idea of the savings you can make and also the diversity of products available.
I bought a 500ml bottle of Sprite from Tesco (£1.33) – You were offered to try this item for 50p. I received £0.83 cash back from the offer plus £0.50 from my referral credits. Obviously I’ve tried sprite before, but considering the weather has been boiling and this cost me nothing, who would say no?
I bought my boyfriend the Mancave Cedarwood Shower Gel 200M (£4.00 in Tesco) That’s £2 cashback from the offer and £2 cashback from my referral credits, again an item that was completely free. He hasn’t tried this yet, but it smells great. £4 for a shower gel is more than I would usually spend, however – ManCave shower gel is;
Packed with natural extracts, oils and bio actives
Cruelty Free – Never tested on animals
Free from nasties including parabens, sulphates and petrochemicals.
Vegan friendly
Formulated & Developed in the UK, with 100% British waters
With these factors in mind the price it definitely justified.
The next thing was Walkers Cheese and Onion Crisps 6 x 25g (£1.70 from Morrisons) – Shopimum were offering 50% off – I received £0.85 cashback. This is not something that I would usually buy as I don’t tend to have crisps in the house but for 85p for 6 packs, why not?
Shopimum are currently offering several The Meatless Farm Co products for just £1, I got the Fresh Plant-Based Mince 400g from Morrisons (£3.00) so that’s £1.50 cashback. I haven’t tried this yet but I’m very excited to as I eat a lot of Quorn’s products but they only offer a frozen style vegetarian mince, this product looks a lot fresher, and fuller in texture, so lets hope it tastes good! The Meatless Farm Co products are available at Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Co-op. I could only find the plant based mince at my local Morrisons. Currently you are able to try their plant based burgers and sausages through Shopimum so I’m keeping my eyes peeled for those. I don’t have a Sainsbury’s near me, but I will check Co-op out to see if they have the rest of their products. These products are fairly new, I hadn’t heard of them before seeing the Shopimum offer. This is something that I would continue to buy if I liked it, so it’s perfect that I’ve had the chance to test the product for a reduced price.
Now I’ve saved the best until last! I got the Absolut Juice Rhubarb Edition Vodka 500Ml (£16 in Tesco) Shopimum are offering 25% of this product at the moment – received £4.00 from the offer and £3.60 from my referral credits which means I only paid £8.40 for this!! I don’t usually drink vodka but I love gin and considering this is a Rubuarb flavour I thought it would be something I might like. Absolut recommend serving with tonic, so it sounds great to me and for £8.40 you’d be crazy not to right?
I’m sure you’ve realised through reading this post that it’s really beneficial to refer friends to this app as allowing your referral pot to build up allows you to get so many items for free.
If you’d like to give Shopimum a try and receive a free 200g Jar of Nutella just click on my referral code here – KFUYCEA
I hope you will enjoy these offers as much as I do. Let me know if you use the app and how you find it! Thank you for reading.
